Frequently asked questions

What does */5 * * * * mean?

Every 5 minutes: at minute 0, 5, 10 … of every hour, every day.

Which time zone do cron jobs use?

Cloudflare Workers and GitHub Actions run cron in UTC; a Linux crontab uses the server's time zone. The tool shows the next runs in UTC and in your local time.

Can cron run on the last day of the month?

Standard 5-field cron has no “last day” option. Run on days 28-31 with a check in your code, or on the 1st at 00:00 — the tool warns you about this.

What happens if I set both a day of the month and a weekday?

The job runs when either matches (standard cron behaviour), and the tool points this out.

Which syntax is supported?

Five fields (minute, hour, day, month, weekday) with ranges, steps, lists, names such as MON or JAN, and shortcuts like @daily and @hourly.
