Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a HEIC photo to JPG?
Drop the .heic file into the box, choose JPG and click Convert. The first time, a small converter is downloaded to your browser; after that it works straight away.
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (or HEIF) is the photo format iPhones and iPads use by default. It keeps pictures small, but many Windows programs, websites and forms can't open it — which is why you convert it to JPG.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser, so your photos never leave your device.
Will the photo be the right way up, and will I lose quality?
Photos are turned the right way up. JPG is a little smaller than the original at the same look; at 90% quality the difference is hard to see. Choose PNG if you want every pixel kept, at the cost of much bigger files.
Does it keep the location and date stored in the photo?
No. The new picture does not carry over hidden data such as GPS location or camera details, which is often what you want before sharing a photo.
Can I stop my iPhone saving photos as HEIC?
Yes. In Settings, open Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG. Photos you already have stay as they are, so convert those here.
Does it work with Live Photos or photos from Android?
It converts the still picture only, so a Live Photo becomes a single JPG. Some Android phones also save HEIC, and those convert in the same way.
